This site is a personal engineering portfolio and lab notebook run by one person. It sells nothing, hosts no accounts, and runs no advertising. What follows is specific to what this site actually does rather than a template — if a clause below isn't true of this site, it isn't in here.

CLAUSE 01Privacy

I do not run analytics, tracking pixels, advertising, fingerprinting, or session recording. There is no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no heatmap tool. I do not build a profile of you, and I have nothing to sell to anyone because I collect nothing to sell.

Three third parties nevertheless see something when you load a page, and honesty requires naming them:

Cookies. This site sets exactly one cookie, and only on the restricted /markets route: a cookie named abl_mk holding a signed session token. It is strictly functional — it exists so that a correct passphrase does not have to be re-entered on every page. It contains no personal data, no identifier tied to you, and no tracking value. It is HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax, and expires after seven days. Every other page on this site sets no cookies at all.

If you email me, I receive your email address and whatever you write, in my own mailbox, and I keep it as long as the correspondence is useful. I don't add you to a list, because there is no list.

Your rights. Depending on where you live you may have rights of access, correction, deletion, or objection over personal data relating to you. Since the only personal data I hold is correspondence you chose to send me, exercising those rights is one email: write to the address above and tell me what you want done. I'll do it and confirm.

Children. This site is not directed at children and knowingly collects nothing from anyone.

CLAUSE 02Terms of use

The writing and design are mine. The prose, layout, illustrations, and site code on absentbornlabs.org are © Asif Hossain and are not licensed for reuse by default. Quote a paragraph with attribution and a link — that's welcome and needs no permission. Republishing whole articles, or passing the work off as your own, is not.

The published source code is not. Repositories I release — including able-origin — carry their own open-source licences in the repository, and those licences govern that code, not this page. Where they conflict, the repository licence wins for the code it covers.

Fair use, and what isn't. Read it, learn from it, link to it, build on the open-source parts under their licences. Don't attempt to breach the /markets gate, scrape at a rate that degrades the site, or use anything here to build something unlawful.

Machine reading is permitted. Search engines and AI systems may crawl, index, quote, and cite these pages with attribution. I would rather be read accurately by a model than not read at all. This permission does not extend to republishing whole articles verbatim as if they were someone else's.

CLAUSE 03Disclaimers — and this one is the important one

Nothing on this site is financial or investment advice. The /markets section contains private research dashboards built for my own use. They are experiments in software engineering, not recommendations, signals, or solicitations to buy or sell any security, future, option, or digital asset. I am not a licensed broker, investment adviser, or financial professional, and nothing here should be treated as though I were. Nothing on those decks places orders; execution is manual and real_money_enabled defaults to false. If you act on anything you see here you do so entirely on your own judgement and at your own risk, and you should speak to a licensed professional first. Past performance, backtests, and simulated results do not predict future results, and simulated results in particular carry well-documented biases.

Technical content is provided as-is. The benchmarks, measurements, and engineering write-ups describe what happened on my hardware, on a particular day, with particular software versions. They are honest, but they are one person's measurements, not peer-reviewed findings, and your results will differ. Code, configurations, and instructions are offered without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Run them at your own risk and read them before you run them.

Availability. Several things on this site — the market decks and the live agent telemetry on The Floor — are served from hardware in my home over a tunnel. When that machine is off, they are down. Nothing here is offered with any uptime guarantee.

No relationship is created by reading this site or emailing me. An engagement exists only when it has been agreed in writing.

CLAUSE 04Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, this site and its contents are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I am not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, nor for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or trading losses, arising out of or connected with your use of this site or anything you obtained from it — whether the claim is framed in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise, and whether or not I was advised such damages were possible.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited — including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

If any provision here is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Changes

If I change this page materially I'll move the date at the top. There is no mailing list to notify, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise.
